Holding events in a chapter is needed to achieve the chapter’s goal which is to engage broader alumni and provide additional value and support for our alumni. It is recommended that each chapter should at least hold one event/activity per month. These are the example of events you can organize or join in your chapter
Casual hangout is usually held routine, be it is weekly or biweekly. This type of event can be routine activities for your chapter that aim to engage more personally with fellow members.
For example: Work from Cafe, Coffee Hangout, etc.
Host a social/networking event like dinner, lunch, or dessert/coffee party where the main purpose is to meet and greet fellow alumni. This event will encourage others to interact and exchange professional contact, thoughts, and ideas. It also will open new business opportunities.
Invite one or two speakers for this event. They can be your former instructor/TL/career coach in the full program or even the senior alumni. This event will encourage discussions and exchange of ideas and opinions about certain topics whether it’s tech-related or general work skill related.
Open the opportunity to know more about how some companies work by visiting them and learning from them directly.
You can also hold a sports activity together. This can be a fun activity to promote unity and bonding among chapter members, as well as encourage friendly competition.
For example futsal, morning run in CFD, badminton, cycling, etc.
A festival/fair event can be one of the big events that you can hold in your chapter. You can pick one theme for this event, involve volunteers, invite performers, and partner with a sponsor/company to open a booth in your fair.
Fundraising is a great way to earn money for your chapter or even for giving back to the community.
